In 1991 a group of friends, parents, and medical professionals came together with the goal of raising money for children with cancer and other serious blood disorders. This led to the formation of the EKF. Since then, EKF has steadily grown, and now supports all children with “catastrophic health challenges on the Rutgers-RWJ [Robert Wood Johnson Hospital] pediatric campus in New Brunswick.” Some of the programs the Embrace Kids Foundation offers are Family Liaison Staff, Embrace Kids Education Program, Social Services and Counselling, and Emergency Financial Assistance and Transportation. Since 1991, EKF has helped more than 3,200 kids and families, and in 2019, EKF raised and donated more than $2.2 million. Rutgers University Dance Marathon (RUDM) was founded in 1999, and is now the largest student-run philanthropic organization in New Jersey. We hold many events throughout the year, of which our main event is the Dance Marathon that occurs in April. Dance Marathon brings over 2,000 participants, volunteers, dancers, and organizers together in a 48-hour extravaganza of dance, music, and activities. Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to cancel the event. However, we still raised over $1,000,000 ($1,034,795.96, to be exact!). Our goal is to raise more this year.
