Welcome to My Personal Page
Tomorrow, on October 17th I will run the Atlantic City Marathon. I dedicate all runs to my beloved Joanna. In 2013 at 18, she lost her battle for life. Since this tragedy, sport remains the best remedy to my heartache. I sign up for races to stay motivated and run them to spread awareness that at any given time there are children ill with cancer and families struggling with this nightmare.
Chemo and radiation take a huge toll on the immune system. These days we all must do what is necessary to protect those most vulnerable from contracting Covid. Imagine, a child you love goes through chemo and radiation. Would you hesitate to wear the mask, would you not take a vaccine to limit the chances of transmitting another serious illness to that child or his/ her parent?
I am again raising money for Embrace Kids Foundation. This organization supports the non-medical needs of kids with cancer or blood disorders. All proceeds are distributed among families in need. Joanna was a recipient of a scholarship and our family received checks from Foundation to cover some bills when our world was falling apart.
Please consider supporting me in my effort to raise $1,000 for cancer affected children and their families.
Thank you so much for your kindness.
Robert Chmiel, Joanna's father.
